how do ethnic cuisines stack up against the dietary guidelines?

Wilfredo Muldoon: wtf knows just eat it!

Delmer Pectol: It depends upon the ethnic cuisine. The Greek diet does fine with it; as do most Mediterranean diets. Northern European food; not so hot as there is too much fat. In the Orient there is too much sodium. Everyone has something!

Raymon Fiene: probably not too well, that's why you shouldn't eat out a lot.

Raymon Fiene: you'd find a lot of ethnic cuisine actually kicks a lot of what we eat to death as far as dietary guidelines go.For example some Mexican food consists of meat cooked in vegetable and spice purees, very little actual fat.Asian stir fries contain lots of vegetables and when cooked in canola oil are very good for you....Show more

Myriam Hetjonk: Most people in the west consider Indian food to be very rich in fat which is not really true. The food typically found in the eateries in the west serve traditional northern cuisine which is rich in fat and spices. But Indian vegetarian cuisi! ne and even non-vegetarian cuisine from the coastal regions of India and the southern parts of India is quite healthy. Do try it out if you can find it.

Krystal Cordovano: depends if you mean the food in general or what you would get at an "ethnic: restaurant. Most proffesionals seem to agree that the meditaranean (sorry about spelling) diet is best as they eat alot of fish, beans/legumes and vegetables, such as tomatoes. but again the food can depend on the society and culture. Like some places people walk alot, so even if they have slightly more fat in their diet they may actually be healthy as they have the exercise to counter balance it. Also some people may have smaller meals and more throughout the day, so they don't actually eat as much. so i guess it all depends...Show more
