What's "Italian Style" in Classical music?

answers1: To answer your question about French style, it has mostly
dotted rhythms.
answers2: There actually is a French and German style of classical music. <br>
<br>
I'm not exactly sure how you can tell them apart other than by
composer or by school (for example, the "New German School" was a term
used to discribe trends in German music in 1860) <br>
<br>
Basically, the styles contain aspects most associated with the
contemporary composers of said countries. "Italian" is generaly
melodious, "French" is flowy, and "German" is bold.
answers3: In an Italian Baroque concerto, louder orchestral passages
alternate with softer solo passages. <br>
The orchestral passages are usually based on a melody. <br>
In a German Baroque concerto, there is usually motive play. <br>
I don't know what a French Baroque concerto is like.

Similar fighting styles like mugen from Samurai Champloo?

answers1: This Site Might Help You. <br>
<br>
RE: <br>
Similar fighting styles like mugen from Samurai Champloo? <br>
Any good main/supporting characters with like that free style, wild
unconventional fighting style?
answers2: Mugen From Samurai Champloo
answers3: Ruruouni kenshin is always a good samurai anime to watch, or
Samurai 7 which is an anime remake of the classic seven samurai by
kurosawa. also if you like samurai Champloo, you might like cowboy
bebop because its made by the same guy and has all the same elements,
just set in the future.
answers4: Well, Mugen's style is mixed (Champloo = mixed) and seems to
be a cross between Capoeira and swordfighting. So, if you are looking
for mixed styles then it shouldn't be too hard to find - almost all
martial arts anime have them. But aside from that, I have heard Spike
from Cowboy Bebop is a lot like Mugen.

What makes a person beautiful? Inner beauty, etc.?

answers1: I agree with you completely, but there is no point in
getting worked up about it. People are the way they are, that is
basic reality. <br>
<br>
We can find something rewarding to do with our time and quit worrying
about what other people think.
answers2: OK, but I still like wearing makeup because it helps me feel
more put together.. nothing is wrong with makeup
answers3: i wish people would just stop worrying so much about beauty,
everyone is beautiful because 1 person may think im beautiful and
another may think im ugly everyone has different opinions and if you
spend your life trying to please everyone it won't be much of a life
for anyone
answers4: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
answers5: I'm not for sure of the question. I don't think race makes
any difference whether your pretty or not and I think that a good
personallity can make you appear prettier.

Is all beauty caused by pain?

answers1: An interesting question that forces one to evaluate the
nature of the senses and how the human body works. <br>
<br>
Certainly, when one thinks about it, and how the skin provides the
faculty of touch and how the ears provide the faculty of hearing, one
could argue that the eyes provide the faculty of sight. <br>
<br>
But what is pain? <br>
<br>
Pain is a physical sensation, and it can only really be felt through
the skin and in the very uppermost epidermal layer. <br>
<br>
Perhaps, however, there are other forms of pain - for example when you
hear nails being scraped across a chalkboard it causes one's ears to
ring, and this could be referred to as a form of pain. <br>
<br>
Ultimately, i guess it comes down to whether or not beauty is to be
considered like hearing a melodious symphony of the most gentle and
calming sort, or a thunderous racket the likes of which one hears upon
a stormy night. <br>
<br>
Certainly there are those whom have been referred to as being
possessed of "Terrible" beauty...
answers2: You mean beauty cause pain? Or you are asking if to be
beautiful you have to go through pain? In both counts the answer is
yes.
answers3: Well, philosophically speaking, if beauty is pleasure and
time bound, then pain must be the inevitable all-around wrapper for
it...... no matter which direction you look, you would certainly
encounter pain beyond the relevant timespan...... this implies that
beauty is not only caused by pain, but also finally culminates in
pain.
answers4: I suppose it can be. A lot of people are so obsessed with
appearence and looking beautiful that when it comes to bullying, it is
always about appearence and it can intimmidate people and builds up a
complex. Hence why plastic surgery is getting more and more popular
every year, it becomes peoples obsessions. But to me I don't think
fake = beauty. To me beauty can be a beautiful person on the inside
and a natural beauty on the outside. But a lot of people don't realise
that now-a-days :/
answers5: well i have been through quite a bit of pain physically and
psychologically and women think i am pretty beautiful lol, i think
people are in some ways attracted to people that are darker not by
dressing or acting a certain way, but you can tell when you look in
their eyes, at least ive been told that.
answers6: What a beautiful question ! It made me feel so good !

i hate my body because_________________?

answers1: im ugly i liked 2 change that if i had the money
answers2: I'm REALLY tall. It's hard to find pants and most guys I
know are too short to date.
answers3: I know I'm going to sound totally crazy, but I'm happy with
my body. I might like to be taller, except I'm still growing, so I'll
probabaly be taller.
answers4: I really dont hate anything about my body...I guess my knees
suck, I am only 20 and I have had a decent about of knee problems.
answers5: I hate my body because I am short! Im 5'4 dang it!
answers6: I don't wanna change anything. God gave me this body and I'm
happy with it.
answers7: I hate nothing about my body.
answers8: well...i have learned to become comfortable with my body,
but to tell you the truth i would like to become a bit more fuller. I
am a skinny girl, not gross skinny but i definitely could gain a
couple pounds...its because i run cross country and track fall,
winter, and spring, figure skate in the winter and summer, and play
soccer in the summer because i love sports, but its great to be able
to eat anything, how much, and when i want to. i never do anything to
lose weight, i do so many sports because its fun and i love to be
stronger than other girls.
answers9: I just want an incredibly flat tummy and tone my inner
thighs. I was blessed in other areas (like my chest, toned legs and
arms) but I kinda wish I was less athletically built and had more of a
curvy body like Beyonce. She has huge feminine hips and a tiny waist.
answers10: . . .because it is so perfect that it makes other men

fact, Yahoo has forbidden me from using my photo as an avatar. Oh,

Do skin exfoliation creams actually age skin?

answers1: Depends on what you use, and how often you use it. <br>
<br>
Your skin wants to be exfoliated and it is often very good to remove
the dead skin and allow 'new' skin to form and be healthy. Do it just
twice a week on a clean face. <br>
To much of a good thing stops healthy cells and could age you.
answers2: no, but they must be done on a consistent bases.....i use st
ives for acne but i mean if your old enough using stupid things like
that is retarded when i watch 10 years younger botox and restalyn
(spelling) work great save your $$$$ and go to a cosmetic
dermatologist

Has a vegetarian diet improved your skin?

answers1: Staying away from meat has helped my digestion, but I
noticed a big difference in my skin when I stopped eating dairy and
sugar. BIG DIFFERENCE. More vitamins from eating more veggies keeps me
looking young though.
answers2: Some food would improve ur skin, some would just b good 4 u.
answers3: No to Vegetarian. Yes to Raw Vegan. <br>
<br>
My skin noticeably started to improve when I gave up dairy and wheat
and started to consume fresh vegetable juices daily. My skin now looks
the best it has ever looked. <br>
<br>
Even strangers are stopping me in the street and remarking on how
healthy my face looks. <br>
<br>
My psoriasis and my husbands eczema have also completely vanished. <br>
<br>
Took about 3 months of juicing for my face to start looking really good. <br>
<br>
It has a very healthy clear glow about it, with an even smooth tone.
Very soft and silky to touch. No spots or pimples. <br>
<br>
I am very happy with the results. <br>
<br>
I now realise the term "you are what you eat" is very true. <br>
<br>
<br>

answers4: I have Hidradenitis Suppurativa <br>
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidradenitis_suppurativa <br>
I have been a Pescatarian for a year. I haven't consumed any milk for
like 2 years. Now my condition is improved greatly. Cow milk is
meant for cows, not humans.
answers5: I think greasy and spicy foods are not good for acne prone
skin and many veg foods can by fried or spicy. So unless your veg
diet is totally void of fried and spicy foods, this would be hard to
correlate. <br>
<br>
There are tons on non veg eaters with great skin, so I am not sure the
two are related. Great healthy skin depends on several factors
including genetics, skin issues, sun damage.... <br>
<br>
Eat fruits, veggies and lots of water. Plus it always helps to have
youth on your side.
answers6: Yeah, but its not just the absence of meat that really
changed anything. I had to get rid of dairy and everything that comes
from from an animal. I also eat 95% of my foods raw.
answers7: Well.. no. <br>
But I didnt eat much meat anyhow. <br>
I went raw vegan for 1 month -- wow! I was glowing. Too bad I dont
have willpower to stick to it :P
answers8: Diet has a lot to do with skin. A diet rich in fruits and
veggies has shown to improve skin.

skin cancer?

answers1: At an early stage you cannot rectify that it's a skin
cancer, but later on when you feel some problems,then you understand
the real pain of it. So the best is to visit skincancerclinic.net.au
answers2: Well, it can be very ugly if it is advanced. But there are
many different types of skin cancer too. The most common is Basal Cell
Carcinoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma. The most dangerous one is
malignant melanoma. <br>
<br>
There are a variety of different skin cancer symptoms. These include
crabs or changes in the skin that do not heal, ulcers in the skin,
discoloration, and changes in existing moles. <br>
<br>
Basal cell carcinoma usually looks like a raised, smooth, pearly bump
on the sun-exposed skin of the head, neck or shoulders. Sometimes
small blood vessels can be seen within the tumor. Crusting and
bleeding in the center of the tumor frequently develops. It is often
mistaken for a sore that does not heal. <br>
Squamous cell carcinoma is commonly a red, scaling, thickened patch on
sun-exposed skin. Ulceration and bleeding may occur. When SCC is not
treated, it may develop into a large mass. <br>
Most melanomas are brown to black looking lesions. Signs that might
indicate a malignant melanoma include change in size, shape, color or
elevation of a mole. The appearance of a new mole during adulthood, or
new pain, itching, ulceration or bleeding of an existing mole should
be checked.

makeup advice please!!!?

answers1: LIPS = Lo'real paris infallible never fail lipcolour compact <br>
this lip gross last for 16 hours <br>
suit those busy ppl
answers2: You need to figure out which goes the best with you skin
type. Are you fair skinned or do you have a darker complexion? Do you
break out a lot? Is your skin oily or dry? Truly, CoverGirl is the
best for any skin condition be it smooth and beautiful, or covered in
acne. I like the TruBlend Whipped foundation. It is oil free and it
has beautiful coverage. But my skin tends to break out in spots, maybe
the mineral makeup would be better for you. I just test the
waters...if something looks good to me I am liable to try it. You will
never know until you jump in.
answers3: Since I don't know your complexion it will be a little
difficult to give specific advice. But check the link below. I guess
you can use the techniques in the video but for everyday wear just use
more neutral tones. <br>
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6_yWn6UbS0
answers4
: cover girl
answers5: Cover girl...cheap but good
answers6: YSL, Maybelline, MAC, BOBBI Brown.
answers7: Were you talking about foundation? If so, I recommend
L'Oreal True Match - lots of shades, light formula isn't too "makeupy"
- dust a little loose powder to set and remove shine (I like using a
lighter shade for under eye circles, not as heavy as concealer). For
added healthy glow, I use a bronze blush which I also use as eyeshadow
for day wear, just a sweep, not a heavy dose. Some eyeliner close to
the roots of the top eyelid (not the inside), some mascara, maybe a
little brow filler if your eyebrows are really light ( mine are and my
favorite thing to work with is an old tube of mascara, almost empty
with most of it tissued off the wand and then artfully applied - if
you can do mascara on your eyelashes, you can do your brows, you just
need a little practice) and finally a touch of gloss in a light
flattering color (I keep dark intense shades for evenings and
fall/winter season). <br>
Anything else? Just ask!
answers8: So go on youtube and search a neutral makeup look tutorial I
suggest heather123 or MichellePhan
answers9: anything by makup or "_,'-'" <br>

can a makeup artist......?

answers1: start videos on youtube <br>
<br>
check out my channel :) <br>
<br>
http://www.youtube.com/user/torisnorri13?feature=mhum
answers2
: Wait, Im confused? You can't be a makeup artist if you don't
do makeup. Blair isn't a makeup artist, shes just a regular girl who
is good at makeup. You should make a youtube account and make videos.
answers3: First off- Blair isn't a makeup artist, I remember her
stating that earlier on. I'm not sure if she's gone into that field,
though. <br>
<br>
To be a makeup artist, you have to be comfortable with practicing on
people. See if there are any artists in your area, and talk to them
about it. Honestly, they'll be able to give you more of a direction
than me :/

Does makeup give you acne?

answers1: Yes and no. It depends on what kind of makeup. Makeup from
Hot Topic will definitely do thay to your skin cause they are not well
known and trusted companies. There is this really great foundation by
Neutrogena that is acne-preventing in the foundation. Neutrogena is a
favorite of mine and any of their products are awesome. Along with
using it, make sure to wash your face before bed and when you wake up
to remove makeup at night and have a clean surface before using it
again! (For any kind of makeup too!) <br>
<br>
Hope this helps!
answers2: defs. it clogs your pores . if you are going to use it use
oil free, and always take it off before bed and wash ur face
answers3: While it took little less than two months for me to really
see a difference, my acne, blackheads and whole lot of other skin
problems I had such as eczema had completely cleared! It was totally
amazing... <br>
<br>
Get Rid Of Acne Permanently?
answers4: I think you need to wash off the make up right before you go
to bed, than you will be fine! Good luck.
answers5: If you use makeup the right way, it will not cause acne. Id
go with something not SO cheap, but drugstore makeup will work fine.
Make sure your cleanse and moisturize your face before applying makeup
and always take off your makeup before bed. Any brushes you use to
apply makeup should be cleaned regularly with a brush cleanser.
answers6: it doesnt if its not too cheap and you havent shared it with
anyone, you should always wash your hands before applying and use
make-up wipes to remove it before you go to bed, boots 3in1 wipes are
very good.
answers7: cheap make up totally gives you acne , PeRsONal StOrY
tImE...ok , so i use to use the normal loreal and cover girl brands
and my skin is just like yours, i get acne very easily , and using
those brands gave me acne and it got pretty bad especially when i had
a concert one night, my mom told me about this mineral make up called
"bare minerals",that stuff is amazing , i bought a box and i started
noticing that not only did the make up look great , but it was also
helping my acne disappear! i suggest you buy i , its like 60 dollars a
box but again , totally worth it, it gives you a great glow to your
give-not that fake tan look , but an actual healthy glow and the acne
blemishes just Spiced!..hope i helped.

Order to put on makeup?

answers1: eyeslipsface.com (GREAT, and everything is really a dollar,
or under 5 dollars!) <br>
NyxCosmetics.com I love nyx!
answers2: I would suggest that you put all of your eye makeup on first
(except for mascara) that way if you make a mistake you can fix it
without removing all of your face makeup. Oh and put on mascara last
that way you don't accidentally get powder or foundation on your
lashes.
answers3: foundation (wet then powder) eyeliner, eyeshadow (fake
lashes if you use them), mascara, blush lipstick/lip gloss.and if u
brush a little powder on at the end and makes it last longer.
answers4: Don't forget sunscreen. If you have oily skin use an
oil-free one and if you have dry skin then use a moisturizing one. You
should get one that has more than 15 SPF. I have a 30 SPF one.
Remember skin cancer. Makeup increases the possibility of skin cancer
and sun burn even if it's not a sunny day. Apply sunscreen after
moisturizer. All over face
answers5: you should go on youtube, there are loads of people who have
makeup channels and tutorials etc...
answers6: 1. Wash your face before using makeup <br>
2. Moisturize the night before or let it dry before applying makeup <br>
3. Primer (not completely needed, but suggested) <br>
4. Concealer (under eyes, pimples/imperfections) <br>
5. Foundation/BB cream (don't forget to blend down your neck using
only excess makeup) <br>
6. Powder foundation (if you wish, I prefer not to use it, it feels
too thick on my face) <br>
7. Eyebrows <br>
8. Eyeshadow (if you wish too) <br>
9. Eyeliner <br>
10. Mascara <br>
11. Contouring/Blush/Bronzer/Highlighter <br>
12. Lipstick/Lipgloss
answers7: I'll go a little in detail~ You don't have to use everything
I say but its whats best for pretty much flawless makeup~ <br>
<br>
1] Moisturizer. Not exactly makeup but it helps your face prepare for
the makeup. There's also tinted moisturizers too~ Let it sit on your
face for at least 5 minutes so it doesn't mix with your makeup! <br>
(Sometimes you can use this as a primer too mostly depending on the
brand for me!) You may skip this, a lot of people do! <br>
<br>
2] Primer. Gets your face "ready" for the foundation. It makes your
makeup last longer also and kind of gives it a smoother look and
texture. <br>
<br>
3] Concealer. Try to use a creamier concealer so it blends in nicely
with the skin. Also, apply with a brush for better results, but
fingers are always fine too! <br>
<br>
4] Foundation. I use a sponge for this instead of a brush because
brushes leave streaks for me >.< but it can differ for everyone~
Brushes or sponge doesn't matter! Also, remember to use a color that
blends with your neck NOT what color your face is. That way it looks
more natural. <br>
<br>
5] Concealer (optional!) I don't know about everyone else but I do
slight touch ups with concealer after foundation again :P <br>
<br>
6] Bronzer, blush, and face powder. I don't use bronzer since I'm
already a natural tan but I put on blush first and then I finish off
with a face powder. <br>
<br>
7] Eyeshadow. Eyeliner. Eyelashes. (in that order!) <br>
<br>
8] Lips. <br>
<br>
And there ya go :o Hope I wasn't too complicated >.< Pretty much my
makeup routine~ :P

can hair blower straighten hair ?

answers1: I don't know, I haven't to try...sorry
answers2: yeah. you just take a brush and flatten the hair on the
brush then blow the air on it
answers3: well, when i let my hair air dry its more curly and when i
use a hair dryer its less. you could just straighten your hair.
answers4: Yes it can but it will not be pin straight like when you use
a hair straightener. If you want to blow dry your bangs straight then
you need a good blow dryer and maybe a bit of heat protecting hair
product. You also need the attatchment nozzle that is made to make
blow drying it straight much easier. I bought this crap 20 dollar blow
dryer and it could never blow dry my hair straight. If your really
serious about it, just go to the salon and ask them about it. Theyll
recommend the right stuff to use.
answers5: Haha "hair blower" x) And yes, it's good to use a hair dryer
because typically the heat isn't as intense as a straightener so it
wont crush and burn your hair. Blow drying tends to look better and
more natural. You just need a good brush. It's best if it's a round
brush with holes in it so you can turn it while you dry and the air
will go through to the other side.

Hair hair hair hair hair. HELP PLEASE!?

answers1: i have light brown hair and it's very healthy and long. <br>
i use bed head tigi brunnette goddess shampoo and bed head tigi self
absorbed conditioner. i also make a hair mask and use it once or twice
a week. i just mix 1 egg, milk. mayo, 1/2 avocado, and one crushed
prenatal or multivitamin vitamin, and apply it to my hair and i leave
it for one hour. <br>
to straighten and curl my hair i use "her styler" it's awsome, a
little expensive but very good and for heat protection i use "her
styler heat serum" <br>
hair looks beautiful clean, it doesn't even have to be straightened or
curled just as long as it's clean and healthy, so trim it every month.
as for the hair products if you are not sure of what's good for your
hair, you should go to a hair dresser and ask her what kind of shampoo
is the right one for your hair. that's what i did and that's why my
hair is so healthy. because i use the best froducts for my type of
hair. <br>
also always comb your hair with a wide tooth come instead of a brush. <br>
and always protect your hair by using a weekly hair mask or deep
conditioner. <br>
i really hope this helped.
answers2: Naturally my hair is very thin and very frizzy as well as
wavy! I use WEN by Chaz Dean & also a serum by biolage for my hair to
maintain soft and smooth locks. I use an instyler for my hair to
straighten it when I feel like doing that. Usually I just let it hang
and be wavy :) I also use extensions somedays!!
answers3: I have long, brownish blonde hair. <br>
its straight with a little wave in it. <br>
I use pantene protective spray or chi spray <br>
i have a bed head straightener and when i have frizy days, I dab a
little lotion through my hair... it also makes it smell good :) <br>
<br>
when i want to wear my hair curlier i use sunsilk beach waves sea
spray then diffuse and curl then run my fingers through :) <br>
<br>
hope this helped :)

Help with prom accessories, hairstyle, ect.?

answers1: its cute! <br>
wear your hair up definetly <br>
keep it simple and clean <br>
idk makeup makeup winged eyeliner?
answers2: Okay since your hair is staright curl it up and try to put
up in a fancy bun or go to the salon and great dreess blue sparkly
purse with dnagling earings well look perfecet on you!
answers3: It's really cute! It is short - I would suggest wearing
short spandex or something under it (just in case) - but I think it'd
be great for prom. <br>
<br>
If you wanted to you could curl your hair or pin up part of it with a
decorative bobby pin or a clip. <br>
<br>
Accessories.. I'd either do the clip/pin idea ^ ^ or maybe one or two
thin silver bracelets. A necklace would be kind of hard to match with
that neckline. Also a small clutch that matched the bracelets would be
good in case you want to carry around your phone, money, etc. <br>
<br>
Shoes.. well how tall is your boyfriend? Flats would work. But also
heels (I wouldn't suggest too tall or strappy since the dress is
already short). Maybe something like these
http://www.zappos.com/volcom-knock-on-wood-creedler-w-blue in blue.
You don't want to be too matchy-matchy with accessories and shoes.
<br>
<br>
Hope I helped a little. Have fun at prom!
answers4: Do curls,curls they would look great on you something
similar to this

up in the middle with your bangs to the side and by curls i mean flowy
curls i guess some silver accessories would look nice something that
catches the eye and check out xteener on youtube she would have great
makeup tutorials.

Cute Hair accessories (include pictures plz)?

answers1: Accessorize your hair this summer with the cutest hair
accessories out there. Everything from head bands, to barrettes,
rhinestone clips, and much more. Hair accessories are great for when
you have one of those bad hair days, or you just want to add a little
fun to your do. <br>
<br>
One of the cutest hair accessories you can sport this summer is the
flower hair clips. They add a lot to your do, and looks absolutely
amazing with a hot summer dress, short shorts, or skirts. Make sure
that when you wear the flower hair clips that you keep all other
accessories to a minimum. Too much is not good enough. <br>
<br>
Headbands are a great way to not only keep the hair out of your face,
but also for bad hair days. Go for cute headbands that tie at the back
and have a lot of color in them. Head bands make your outfit more
colorful, so choose something in blue with white polka dots, or a
floral pattern. <br>
<br>
Hair barrettes are a more dressier, classier look and they're mostly
worn during the evening. Go for classy barrettes that have rhinestone
detailing on them. It will add instant glam and sex appeal to your
tresses.Rhinestone barrettes <br>
<br>
Wear a cute military shaped cap that will keep you out of the sun, as
well as make you look fabulous. Sport the cap (white or any lighter
colors) with tights/leggings and boots or a sweatsuit ensemble.
answers2: Well, you have amazing hair already! For make-up, you don't
need too much since your skin looks flawless. Some blush, pinkish
brown on the apples of your cheeks will be very good. Black mascara
and brown or black eyeliner will be stunning, but don't go heavy on
the liner. I pink lip gloss would be wonderful, but once again don't
overdo it. As for clothes, make sure you have something flattering on!
A long babydoll top and leggings pretty much suits anybody. Just make
sure it is either one solid color or has few designs. You don't want
it patterned! Another option is skinny jeans and a nice babydoll top.
They're in fashion now! As for shoes, I'm sure you own at least one
pair of ballet falts. Jewlery, a simple braclet will do and maybe a
necklace but you don't want a ring! Good luck and remember to be
confident! Then, your real beauty will shine through! Not as if you
aren't beautiful already :) Stay gorgeous, faboox3

Good CREDIBLE sources on MADONNAS FASHION?

answers1: Well, this isn't going to be the best answer but I'll try to
help. Marylin Monroe was Madonna's main influence in fashion and many
pop stars have tried to "copy" Madonna's style. Lady Gaga and Britney
Spears are two of them. <br>
If you trust wikipedia : <br>
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna_wannabe"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna_wan...</a>
answers2: A credible supply is one who has a monitor list of correct
reporting. A credible supply might be very cautious to split reality
from hypothesis and warn approximately expertise which can not be
demonstrated. In addition it's one who has a few expertise of the
technical main points.
answers3: I know it's rare for a guy answer this kind of questions,
but it's Madonna. I guess... I would answer the same thing about
Michael Jackson. <br>
<br>
what was fashion like before her? <br>
<br>
- Marilyn Monroe <br>
<br>
who copies her style? <br>
<br>
- Kylie Minogue, Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera,
Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Ke$ha... And I could go on all day. Around the
world, there are a lot of 'artists' who are coping Madonna... And we
don't even know. <br>
<br>
What was new about her fashion? <br>
<br>
- She brought the 'Cone Bra' that these days most people are using,
the 'Corsets', 'Transparencies' the 'Boots' and well... She's the
mother of fashion trends. She always knows what is next, she's some
kind of seer. She's a chameleon, every day, every mounth, every year,
she's complete diferent. She's the mother of reinventions. <br>
<br>
What changes did she cause in fashion? <br>
<br>
She proved to be very influential to female fashions. She first
emerged on the dance music scene with her "street urchin" look—short
skirts over leggings, necklaces, rubber bracelets, fishnet gloves,
hairbows, long layered strings of beads, bleached, untidy hair with
dark roots, head bands, and lace ribbons. In her Like a Virgin phase,
millions of young girls around the world emulated her fashion example
that included brassieres worn as outerwear, huge crucifix jewellery,
lace gloves, tulle skirts, and boytoy belts. <br>
<br>
Gloves, sometimes lace and/or fingerless, were popularized by Madonna,
as well as fishnet stockings and layers of beaded necklaces. Short,
tight Lycra or leather mini-skirts and tubular dresses were also worn,
as were cropped, bolero-style jackets. Black was the preferred colour.
Another club fashion for women was lingerie as outerwear. Prior to the
mid-1980's it had been taboo to show a slip or a bra strap in public.
A visible undergarment had been a sign of social ineptness. In the new
fad's most extreme forms, young women would forego conventional
outer-garments for vintage-style bustiers with lacy slips and several
large crucifixes. This was both an assertion of sexual freedom and a
conscious rejection of prevailing androgynous fashions.

Which humanities course should i take?

answers1: Easy Classes At Mizzou
answers2: If you're planning on traveling, French IV is the best
option because it's the second most important language in the world
(after English). If you don't believe me, you can look it up. Not many
people speak Latin these days but it is useful for the SAT and also if
you're planning on being something in the medical field. It is up to
you. Philosophy is really interesting, it is another good choice. Good
luck.
answers3: I've found, its not WHAT the class is, but WHO teaches it
that makes a difference. <br>
But Ive found it out the hard way by failing one class and having to
repeat it for a higher grade with another teacher. <br>
<br>
Moral of the story, <br>
even easy classes can be hard if you dont DO the work. All of these
classes look simply, but you must DO the work to get the A.
answers4: If you want to become a professional in doing portrait then
Realistic Pencil Portrait Mastery from here <a
href="https://tr.im/oRT7p"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>https://tr.im/oRT7p</a> is the manual that
you need. <br>
The center of the Realistic Pencil Portrait Mastery eBook is 3 secrets
that fully guaranteed to provide you with a possiblity to attain the
level of a specialist of this art. They are focusing on picking right
up expertise of depiction of most face characteristics; recognizing
also the absolute most small sights in most facial quality; and
learning to see what is concealed to the others. <br>
The reference substance may stop you active for months if that you do
not brain pulling celebrities.  The face characteristics photographs
give you sense of the alternative of face features.  The photographs
are huge and really crisp – great to bring in different words.
answers5: You raise some good points here.
answers6: philosophy is hard, don't take it <br>
i'd stick to french hist/cul 1
answers7: To know which is going to be easiest for you is going to
require knowing some additional information. Do you prefer
short/answer essay tests or multiple choice? If it is multiple
choice, then you probably want to steer clear of Philosophy which
usually requires you to explain concepts and give examples through
short answer/essay format in a blue book exam. Are you good at
memorizing dates and events? If yes, then History could work to your
advantage. Of course this will also depend on who the instructor is
for the course as well, because some instructors are very lenient and
tend to give out a large number of A's and B's while others have very
difficult grading measures. Why not check out the website below to
find out what past students have said about these specific courses
with the instructor that is teaching each. You can find out if it is
interesting, if it's easy, if the professor is respected, etc.

General Studies-Arts & Humanities-AA or 1290 Liberal Studies-Transfer?

answers1: Double-check me on this but I think your CC has a program
that designates which courses will be transferable to a 4 year or
other school. <br>
<br>
The alternative includes courses you take for self-enrichment and/or
for a Vocational or other Associates degree at that school. <br>
<br>
If you are in Liberal Studies - Transfer and try to sign up for a
course that for some reason will not transfer, the Counselor should
catch it.
answers2: You do not want an AA degree. You want only the courses
needed for transfer to a university. An AA often includes courses not
usable for credit after you transfer. <br>
<br>
Overall it sounds like this particular school has created a major
specific for transferring and the word "Transfer" in the name implies
to me that this is a specific program meant for transferring. <br>
<br>
What you need to do is take a list of all the courses that are
included in this major and cross check them against the courses needed
to complete the major you plan to transfer into at the university.of
your choice. You may also want to contact the registrar's office at
the university and ask them if you take this transfer program that all
the credits will indeed apply to your major. <br>
<br>
But in this case if I had to make a guess with only this information,
I would say the counselor was correct recommending Liberal
Studies-Transfer. <br>
<br>
Just be aware that doing the transfer route is not a good idea if you
are planning on engineering or Pre-Med. You cannot take all the
courses for those in only 2 years.
answers3: GS Liberal Studies -transfer is more general than is GS-A&H
though both are for transferring. <br>
<br>
If your major is going to be in the arts and hummanities after you
transfer than the GS-A&H might be the right option since it will
include some arts and humanities lower-level major courses.
Otherwise, the GS-Liberal Studies is designed specifically for what
you asked for - the general education core of a 4-year program. <br>
<br>
Either one is adequate for a transfer degree though. Understand very
clearly that an AA in general studies (or just about anything else)
isn't for getting a job. If you think you might not transfer to a
4-year aftward then consider some other associate degrees that lead to
a vocational qualifier.

Humanities project help!!!?

answers1: such loads of excellent issues to go with between! you may
contemporary portray by potential of Picasso, Van Gogh, Degas,
Toulouse-Latrec, Renoir, Klee; in basic terms check out the artwork
books on your library. For dance, there is Isadora Duncan, Mikhail
Barishnokov, Bob Fosse, for starters. The action picture "White
Nights" had some staggering scenes blending Gregory Hines' faucet with
Barishnokov's ballet, even the plot is purely a motor vehicle for the
dancing. maximum suitable desires.
answers2: Since we are talking humanities - as a starting point you
need to remind yourself of the function of Venus as the goddess of
Love in ancient mythology. Then you might read between the lines of
this Wikipedia article <a
href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus_Victrix_%28Canova%29"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus_Victr...</a>
and point to the fact that a husband had it carved of his wife for
exhibition in their (expensive) home/mansion/palace. Note also that
an upper class woman actually posing in the nude was considered
shocking then as well as now - maybe less now. <br>
If you still don't see a connection, perhaps you are limiting your
definition of love to one or two of the dozens of uses of the word
(which can make it almost meaningless in a specific application) - no
the statue does not have much of anything to do with Christian love or
love thy neighbor.

What other art is Conceptual Art related to and what are some characteristics of Conceptual Art?

answers1: In conceptual art the idea or concept is the most important
aspect of the work. When an artist uses a conceptual form of art, it
means that all of the planning and decisions are made beforehand and
the execution is a perfunctory affair. The idea becomes a machine that
makes the art.
answers2: to me, conceptual art is mostly related to minimal art. what
they have in common is the focus on the idea instead of the resulting
artwork. therefore, the actual piece can be created by others than the
artist.

Does art have any rules?

answers1: Rules of certain quality...
answers2: Hey art is an expression and happens in so many millions of
ways that it would be a crime to say there should be any rules for it!
I studied art in college and my teacher explained to us why there
will never be a true answer or definition about what art is. Since the
way we all view art is from our own perception, it is only us that can
tell ourselves whether a piece of art is art or junk. Trust me, art is
a confusing subject and so many people want to know why the piece of
art that the monkey made is worth over 1 million dollars- it's a
tricky question! If I were you, I would just experiment and have fun
with art. Its hard to realize that we are surrounded by art on a daily
basis and we take it for granted. Don't worry about any rules - just
enjoy it as a form of beauty. hope this helps!
answers3: essentially yes art does have rules...
answers4: I immediately thought about artistic freedom when I saw this
question, whether it be visual art or music. <br>
Even though I have artistic freedom according to my contractual
agreement with the company I work for, there are still some rules I
must follow. <br>
That is of course by a legal contract, but without I actually feel
there should be expression through art of any form without boundaries.
Some rules may exist so as one may not harm, copy or imitate another
artists work.
answers5: Art doesn't have any rules, that's what it makes it beautiful.

What are the differences and similarities between fans of Japanese art and Western art?

answers1: They are both interested in art; one is interested in
Japanese art. The other is interested in Western art.

What is the difference between art and visual design?

answers1: When used as you do "art and visual design" normally means
that art involves expressing oneself using artistic media including
drawing and painting with possibly a sampling of clay sculpture.
Visual design is usually applied art - in particular posters but
possibly the shapes of real products - notice both the basic
suggestions are relatively cheap compared to "real life" activities -
cheap fitting school activities. <br>
But you should be able to talk to the people who are teaching this now
and find out what is included.
answers2: Art is in general the expression of oneself through a
creative medium, e.g. music, paints, poetry, dance, etc. <br>
Visual design is a bit more specific and professional about, well,
designing things to please the eye. I imagine it would be something
like a publishing or graphic arts course.

your interested, I suggest using the free trial before investing in
the full version. <br>
<br>
Gimp-- Similar to Photoshop but with an emphasis on drawing. It is
<FREE> so I highly recommend it. <br>
<br>
Paint.net-- is another example of a unique, fun drawing tool. Can't
say anything too special about it though. It can make some pretty
nice Gif. images if you're into that type of thing. This is also free
for download off of the website. <br>
<br>
If you're on a Windows computer then MS Paint should already be on
your computer for some basic drawing tools. Its really easy to use
but doesn't have too much to offer. <br>
<br>
If you're really serious about visual art then go for Adobe Photoshop,
Autodesk Sketchbook, Corel Draw, or Painter. <br>
<br>
It's all really about your preference and needs for the type of art you create.

Whats the difference between an acting coach and acting teacher?

answers1: Um...an acting coach is someone who coaches you through
acting like monologues or working on a scene. An "acting teacher" is a
phrase that is rarely ever used or not at all. That's usually never
the correct phrase to use. and if it is used then expect that person
to teach you about acting on an academic level. Meaning a grade will
be involved.
answers2: an acting teacher is going to cover several aspects of
acting. a coach is usually hired by an actor <br>
who has picked up a part but needs some special instruction on certain
aspect of the role. you wouldn't <br>
want to hire a coach for normal acting classes.

Anyone been in highschool theater?

answers1: JOIN JOIN JOIN! you can join theater at any time. you may or
may not get into the plays, i don't know. the drama teacher at my
school at least is about 30 times more likely to cast a drama student
in his plays than someone he hasn't taught, though! <br>
class work depends on how serious your class is. there is going to be
some memorization and work involved, but i'm sure you can handle it.
<br>
as for theater kids? hmmm... be nice to everybody. theater kids can be
drama queens (not just the girls!) and sometimes they aren't all that
nice, but if you can stay on everyone's good side and always be
friendly, you'll be alright. <br>
best of luck!
answers2: Different schools have different policies about courses so I
can't help you there, but I can assure you that if you join a theater
class, you will have the opportunity to perform in front of a crowd.
<br>
<br>
As for class work, at the very beginning of a theater education, it's
likely that your teacher will focus on improvisation and taking risks.
Mostly this is to build confidence and creativity. The next step is
learning about creating character. <br>
<br>
Lastly, as for getting along with theater kids, it's the same with
getting along with anyone else. Theater kids are still kids. Perhaps
for talkative than most, but when don't you have talkative kids in
your science class? Don't categorize them into a category. Not until
you've taught theater for years. Then you can be like my teacher and
call all of us "theater kids" because we drive her crazy with our
obnoxious loudness. ;)
answers3: I joined theater in grade 9. Loved it. Wasn't part of any
productions at my school though, but did lots of scene study, theory,
and improv. When I returned in grade 11, I was the lead in both
productions, and loved it. Theater is amazing, and you will love it.
As for getting along with them, just enjoy yourself. Theater class is
the one class where you can fully express yourself (Besides other arts
courses) and go for it! Have fun!
answers4: I was heavily involved in theater in high school, all behind
the scenes. Never took a class or auditioned for a part, and that was
just fine--had a blast. <br>
<br>
Some programs will guarantee a role for those in the class, while
others have open auditions. Ask your friends or the instructor. <br>
<br>
Theater is great for any age, especially high schoolers. (Teens have
always been good at manufacturing drama!) Give it a try, and if you
find it fun, keep doing it.
answers5: There were tons of Sophomores and Juniors in my theatre one class.

Is there an hbcu that is awesome for theater majors?

answers1: Hmmm... that's a tough one. The majority of excellent
theatre schools are in the North and most HBCUs are in the South.
Wilberforce University in Ohio is the only one I know of in the North
but I think they are known more for their music, not theatre.

Are professional theatre actors rich ?

answers1: There are vast, vast amounts of aspiring actors in the
world. So many that, even the most talented actors may never be seen
and won't make a name for themselves. Actors that do, owe this mainly
to luck, being fortunate with connections, and are simply in the right
place in the right time. So in response to your answer, a very small
percentage of actors will make themselves a decent living - but will
spend years of hard work, determination, rejection and unemployment
getting there. Best of luck, BlackCat x
answers2: The vast majority of actors have very little money. Acting
is a very hard field to get into as it has a lot of competition, and
usually pays very little. Theatre actors are never RICH, like a
Hollywood actor, but I suppose the more popular the play the more
money they make. However, no theatre actor is going to be very
wealthy.
answers3: As Mia says - no, most theatre actors are paid very poorly.
When they go around the world to perform, that's usually paid for by
the theatre company they're working for, and their hotel room, food
and travel expenses are taken care of. They stay in small, cheap
hotels, and travel in coaches or whatever the company provides. They
also get a small monthly amount - small compared with when they're
working in movies. <br>
That's why most actors switch between theatre, TV and movies. They
love performing live in theatre, but as it pays comparatively little,
they can't do it for very long. <br>
Of course, serious actors don't care about getting low pay - they
don't act for the financial benefits - they act because they love it.

who here thinks that rap is poetry in motion?

answers1: it is in the expressive movement, that we find poetic rhythm
in rap...the words alone are often very poetic, regardless of the lack
of devices found in structured writing....remove the beat and analyze
the words...there is the test for me
answers2: it is poetry... plain and simple... no argument to the
contrary can be made... but poetry is an umbrella term that extends to
many many many (emphasis on many) different forms and styles... Look
at the stylistic diversity... it extends from slam poetry, to haikus,
to form regid stuff like John Dunne, all the way to the break all
barriers stuff of guys like Ginsberg and E.E. Cummings. Plus the
hundreds of culturally specific distinctions and variations. 150-200
years ago, most of what we now consider "poetry" would not be thought
of as poetry at all, and so the definition is fluid, like with every
art form. <br>
<br>
Now, whether or not you think it is good and has merits is an entirely
different question, one i think you are actually more interested in
answering... but there is no denying that rap is a kind of poetry.
answers3: i think some rap songs are poetry but others arent
answers4: Depends what kind of rap it is. Gangster rap definitely
isn't poetic, but there are other types of rap out there to which the
phrase does apply.
answers5: i dont. i think its noisy, annoying, crap. its all about

feeling.

why can i not find my poems on poetry.com/ Managing Editor/ Howard Eli?

answers1: hard issue. research on bing and yahoo. it can assist!
answers2: From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaJump to: <br>
<br>
Until recently, the domain name Poetry.com was owned by New Catalyst
Fund[citation needed]. On March 7th, 2009, Lulu.com purchased that
domain from NCF. Publish Today and Noble House Books, the branches of
Poetry.com that managed the publishing and printing of their books,
have gone out of business.[1] <br>
<br>
According to their press release, Lulu has aggressive plans to
completely revamp Poetry.com and bring it under the Lulu brand. The
site will be renamed to Lulu Poetry, and will be targeted to poets who
want to connect with their peers and have access to resources to
receive reviews and feedback on their poetry as well as recognition,
contest prizes and helping them publish their work. <br>
<br>
Poetry.com was previously run by a Maryland-based company called The
International Library of Poetry, also known as the International
Society of Poets and the International Poetry Hall of Fame,[2] This
company was considered by many to be a vanity publisher. Poetry.com
claimed to coordinate monthly poetry contests and other services
through its website, though the actual competitive nature of these
contests was disputed. The site's ostensible primary purpose was
publication of poetry anthologies submitted by aspiring authors, and
invitations to poetry conventions hosted by the group. The Better
Business Bureau of Greater Maryland classified the business as a
vanity publisher, and notes that the quality of the poetry submitted
to them "does not appear to be a significant consideration for
selection for publication."[3]

How to publish my poetry?

answers1: To find places that take poetry submissions you'll need to
find places that print poetry, read them to see what kinds of poetry
they publish and then [and this is the hard part] evaluate yours. <br>
<br>
Poetry doesn't have a huge market (though the amount of poetry being
published is larger than at any time in history), most print
publications are poorly funded or rely on volunteers or students, so
your chances of being paid are slim. I find it interesting the number
of writers who want to be published but do not support those who
publish poetry. How many books of poetry have you purchased in the
last year? How many journals do you subscribe to? What do you do to
advocate for poetry in your community, to make a market, to cause
interest?
answers2: Self publishing is a route to go.
answers3: Start out with self publishing and monitor your response.
Amazon is a good place to start. See link.
answers4: extremely tough situation. do a search on to a search
engine. it can assist!

Easier book of postmodern philosophy?

answers1: "New Philosophies of Social Science: Realism, Hermeneutics
and Critical Theory" <br>
by William Outhwaite
answers2: What Jim said...in spades! <br>

answers3: Well I hate to break it to you, but obfuscation is a key
component of postmodern stuff. It hides the fact that there is no real
argument in it! <br>

Does philosophy lack action?

answers1: You might be thinking about a controversy in the history of
philosophy. Karl Marx (often now thought of as an economist - but he
would have called himself a philosopher) wrote in his 'Eleven Theses
on Feuerbach', 'Philosophers have hitherto only interpreted the world
in various ways; the point is to change it'. <br>
<br>
Essentially, Marx thought that the attempts to discover a timeless
'essence of man' that philosophers of his day were engaged in was
fruitless. Man, and all his ideas, were a product of the economic
system he was born into. To understand this is to want to change the
economic system for the better - so man can be at his best. People
have been arguing ever since whether philosophy needs to have a
practical impact on the world. <br>
<br>
Some people think philosophy is taking a holiday from the world, just
asking random questions that do not change anything. There are
philosophers of whom this would be a valid critique. But these are
bad philosophers. <br>
<br>
Marx certainly changed the world. Reading Heidegger can be a life
changing experience - it can cause you to live your life in a
completely different way. The ancient Stoic philosophers used thought
to find ways to live fearlessly, and with compassion for all those
they met. And the founding father of all philosophy - Socrates used
dialogue to lead people into a state of aporia where their certainty
of who they were and what the world around them was like was utterly
shattered. From this state they could find a newer more authentic and
more truthful identity. People often found this process devastating
as well as highly rewarding. <br>
<br>
Good philosophy changes lives and changes the world - as it changes
the whole way people see themselves and the world. Anything else
isn't worthy of the name.
answers2: Dont believe all you hear. There are different Philosophies.
If philosophy lacked action. Then my days in war would have stopped me
or My solution Triple Output implemented by another nation would not
have turned off Global Warming, but it did, confirmed by our Satelite
reports 11/28/2012. Global Command
answers3: You act according to your philosophy as influenced by your emotions.
answers4: Yes ,you can look up non-volitional action in Taoism
answers5: not really. you can be philosophical while taking action.
answers6: Yes. I don't think there is a Philosopher's Without Borders
group in the world.
answers7: An example would be someone who believes that 2 healthy
intelligent beings would create a healthy intelligent baby. So that
person, if healthy and intelligent goes on the hunt for the same to
create a baby. He puts his philosophy to the test. That's action.
<br>
Putting your philosophies to the test. <br>
If one feels the key to life is to have fun he lives that theory. <br>
If one feels the key to life is to have money, he goes out to do so. <br>
If one feels the key to life is to please God then his life reflects that. <br>
Some people talk the talk but do not necessarily walk the walk.
Philosophy without action. <br>
I am a philosopher of action. I don't sit around and tell people
things that I myself haven't tested or willing to put to the test.

to what extent can philosophy be considered as science?

answers1: Well I think that Yahoo Answers got it right when they put
this section under Arts & Humanities. Science looks more at hard
realities whereas the Humanities are more concered with the intangible
aspects of what it means to be human, just like philosophy looks at
the intangible parts of knowledge.
answers2: I would say that the two are linked as they both emphasize
reason and the search for truth. Philosophy is mroe on the
metaphysical level, while science deals with the physical realm. I
think they both use similar thoguht processes and ideals of truth to
arrive at thier conclussions.
answers3: Philosophy is actually a kind of science; it is a general
science which is interested in everything (mainly) and which pushes
minds to think in order to find answers to all the questions.
answers4: The rational counterpart or anti-thesis to Science is Art
and the Synthesis is Philosophy. Art is skill a certain knowing, while
science is mere love of understanding and philosophy is love of
wisdom. In essence Science is void of intuition and volition, art is
random and it is Philosophy that can explain the practical merits of
either in a neutral fashion. Hence given a argument Art and Science
take turns playing prosecutor and Defense but in the end Philosophy is
always the Judge! <br>
<br>
Note how Plato asserts the highest Government role to Philosophers and
the second role to Artists not Science, but warns that the reason is
Artists are the most dangerous!
answers5: I consider myself a philosopher, and I have great respect
for science. Given this I would never try to argue that the two
intersect. There are a few reasons for this: <br>
<br>
Philosophy doesn't use the scientific method. No hypothesis testing,
no experiments, etc. <br>
<br>
Philosophy doesn't seek to discover or establish laws, it seeks to
discover or establish truth. <br>
<br>
Philosophy isn't necessarily systematically arranged. It certainly can
be, but it doesn't have to be. You can have philosophy without
systematic arrangement. The same can't be said for science. Systematic
arrangment is a necessary condition for science, but not for
philosophy, thus the two can't be the same. <br>
<br>
The closest it comes is if you use the "knowledge as facts or
principles" definition of science, but even this is problematic. You
can certainly discover principles with philosophy, but facts require a
level of objectiveness that philosophy just might not be capable of.
<br>
<br>
If the places where science and philosophy differ, it's my opinion
that the lack of the use of the scientific method really draws the
line. Even the social sciences (political science, sociology, for
example) have seen the necessity of the scientific method, and have
started to use it. Philosophy has not. <br>
<br>
I must qualify all of this: I'm not looking to make a value judgement.
The fact that philosophy is not a science has zero effect on its
usefulness, it simply means that science and philosophy are two
different things. Science doesn't intrinsically mean "good" and not
science doesn't intrinsically mean "bad." They're just different. <br>
<br>
I would assert that philosophy is bigger than science. It can
encompass all things - morality, religion, ethics, even science itself
(there is a whole academic field on the philosophy of science). To me,
philosophy is the consideration of all things, science takes these
things and considers them individually and breaks them apart for
study.
answers6: Philosophy is the most rigorous of sciences - it is the
mathematics of knowledge. It examines the truth, the knowableness and
the means by which we can be certain of everything we think we know.
It is the height of science.
answers7: There's no unified philsophy nor unified science. The two
domains intersect and require each other. And even then its always
discontinuous philosophies meeting disparate sciences. There are no
robust reductions of one to the other or even one type to a glimmering
category. <br>
<br>
Science doesn't always use the scientific method: for instance,
choosing which theory to use, given more than one theory which predict
the same data, there's often institutional disputes, but no empirical
testing. Some sciences can't even use the scientific method because we
cannot observe all the implications of the view, as in any theoretical
physics... <br>
<br>
Philsophy, likewise, doesn't omit the scientific method. The use and
reliance on thought experiment demonstrates this. Instead of searching
the empirical world for actual data that conflicts with a thought
experiment, a philosopher looks for possible counterexamples.
Hypothesis, evidence (in the form of possibilia), conclusion. <br>
<br>
Not to mention the amount of empirical studies that philosophy relies
on-- for example, look at the literature for personal identity.
Without brain bissection as an empirical fact, none of the wild
conclusions follow. Or look at Neural Plasticity as a scientifically
documented phenomenon, and then look at the discussions generated in
the philosophy of mind.
answers8: Everything starts with philosphy. People do things a
certain way based on their philosphy toward it. I would'nt call
philosophy a science more so than a way of life.
answers9: The be conscious technology means wisdom and records of
what's fairly real and conclusions that are based upon unquestionably
evidence and logical reasoning. To the quantity a philosophy adheres
to those concepts in its attention of actuality, it could rightfully
be seen a technology.
answers10: They both involve the systematic search for truth and
encourage a rigorous kind of thinking about the world. And they share
a common origin; instead of having philosophers and scientists, we
used to have mostly "philosophers" who were a combination of both
(like, say, Aritstotle). But philosophy and science today are clearly
separate disciplines. Science is based on physical experimentation;
if there isn't an experiment involved, then what you have probably
isn't science. There's some gray area about things like astronomy,
and other fields where rigorous sorts of observation are used instead
of experimentation, but for the most part, science is a discipline
defined by the process of inductively reasoning from experimental
data. Philosophy is not. <br>
<br>
If you throw mathematics into the lot, this becomes still more
complicated. A lot of important math has been done by philosophers;
look at Leibniz, for example. In the last century, philosophers (like
Wittgenstein) basically created formal logic as we now know it.
Bertrand Russel worked on set theory. It should be noted, as well,
that mathematics is not an experimental discipline (except for the
naturally exceptional case of proof by exhaustion). <br>
<br>
Linguistics, too, has significant overlap with some types of analytic
philosophy. And also to mathematics -- computational linguistics is
an interesting (if arbitrary and confounding) field. <br>
<br>
Psychology and philosophy have also historically overlapped -- Freud,
Jung, and Lacan, all psychologists, are much more important to
critical theorists than they are to psychologists. With the advent of
behavioral psychology, which is a more explicitly scientifically
discipline, psychology and philosophy are drifting apart again. <br>
<br>
At any rate, I've gone on long enough. Suffice it to say that
philosophy is an incredibly broad field which informs and is informed
by any number of other fields. When we can't or don't have
inductively-derived data in any field, philosophy is sometimes what
fills the gap. Are the brain and the mind the same thing? Ask a
philosopher, not a neuroscientist, because there is no experiment that
can tell you the answer. All we can do is think very clearly and
rationally about the question -- and that is what philosophers are
there for. It's not science, but that doesn't mean it's not useful.

Philosophy Metaphor?

answers1: If not for philosophy we would have no 'intelligence'. Our
very process of thinking requires that we have knowledge (which is
metaphysics, such as "that is a tree" or "the dog is soft".) It
requires epistemology (such as "I know the dog is soft because...) Our
actions require that we have given thought to our ethics; even as
little children we know our parents have said "no hitting".) <br>
<br>
Without logic you can't think; our brains are hardwired to think in
terms of induction and deduction, though we may learn other forms of
it. <br>
<br>
So philosophy is not a battle against something that comes from words.
Words are our friends, if we have the will to use them realistically.
answers2: Since Ludwig Wittgenstein once said words to the effect that
the only thing left for "philosophy" to "do" is to analyse language
(Grammar as philosophy? Philosophy as Grammar?), your quote sounds
like one of his aphorisms. But it is a good metaphor, since the most
common fallacy in reasoning is what Aristotle called the "fallacy of
names" (in translation: "the argument that turns upon names only" ) or
the fallacy ambiguity in more modern speech. <br>
<br>
ARISTOTLE: <br>
Let us now discuss sophistic refutations, i.e. what appear to be
refutations but are really fallacies instead. We will begin in the
natural order with the first. <br>
<br>
That some reasonings are genuine, while others seem to be so, but are
not, is evident. This happens with arguments, as also elsewhere,
through a certain likeness between the genuine and the sham. For
physically some people are in a vigorous condition, while others
merely seem to be so by blowing and rigging themselves out as the
tribesmen do their victims for sacrifice; and some people are
beautiful thanks to their beauty, while others seem to be so, by dint
of embellishing themselves. <br>
<br>
So it is, too, with inanimate things; for of these, too, some are
really silver and others gold, while others are not and merely seem to
be such to our sense; e.g. things made of litharge (Lead? KB) and tin
(lead plus tin = solder ??? KB) seem to be of silver, while those made
of yellow metal look golden. <br>
<br>
In the same way both reasoning and refutation are sometimes genuine,
sometimes not, though inexperience may make them appear so: for
inexperienced people obtain only, as it were, a distant view of these
things. <br>
<br>
For reasoning rests on certain statements such that they involve
necessarily the assertion of something other than what has been
stated, through what has been stated: refutation is reasoning
involving the contradictory of the given conclusion. <br>
<br>
Now some of them [reasoning or refutation (i.e. refutation = elenchus
= what Socrates did KB)] do not really achieve this, though they seem
to do so for a number of reasons; and of these the most PROLIFIC and
USUAL DOMAIN is the argument that TURNS UPON NAMES ONLY. <br>
<br>
It is impossible in a discussion to bring in the actual things
discussed: we use their NAMES as symbols instead of them; and
therefore we suppose that what follows in the names, follows in the
things as well, just as people who calculate suppose in regard to
their counters. But the two cases (names and things) are not alike.
For names are finite and so is the sum-total of formulae, while things
are infinite in number. <br>
<br>
Inevitably, then, the same formulae, and a single NAME, have a number
of meanings. Accordingly just as, in counting, those who are not
clever in manipulating their counters are taken in by the experts, in
the same way in arguments too those who are not well acquainted with
the FORCE OF NAMES misreason both in their own discussions and when
they listen to others. For this reason, then, and for others to be
mentioned later, there exists both reasoning and refutation that is
apparent but not real. [The Sophistical Refutations; Ch. 1] <br>
<br>
Thus Wittgenstein, if it is actually him, and Aristotle seem to be in
a modernly "strange" agreement. <br>
<br>
Kevin

answers6: I would say philosophy is a battle against the bewitchment
of the mind by means of reasoning. It is the misty realm of myth and
superstition and dark regions of the unknown that could bewitch
intelligence, enabling the intelligent to conceive strange impressions
and very cleverly devise ways to express what is not understood
through proof but accepted through beyond doubt believing. Then it is
literature instead, and not philosophy, that fights with words against
whatever in the world is seen wrong or for whatever is seen as right.

Philosophical thought remains at the forefront of whatever the mind
has in sight. There to roam about the twilight zone between the known
and the unknown, a place however within the reach not in yet the
grasp. Philosophy then then by the methods of abstract reasoning
prepares that region for the application of the methods of science.
This is why philosophy is described as the mother of all branches of
knowledge, i.e. maths, science, psychology, sociology etc.
