FOR PARENTS: need advice with laundry and my parents! ?

Becky Mosena: x) I remember when I learned. It seemed complicated, but don't worry.First off, separate colors from whites and such. White tshirts with logos go in whites. Things that are mostly white go with whites. If you're still not sure, check the tag and it should give you instructions on how to wash it.Open washing machine. But in a bit of soap. You'll have to judge by yourself on how much is enough. Add clothes. Using the cap of the bottles, pour a bit of fabric softener and but it in the APPROPRIATE SPOT. It will stain clothes. You may want to add a bit of water to it, so it doesn't gunk the machine up.Close machine and adjust knobs according to the size and make of your load. When washing colors, it's best to use cold water. With pure white, you do the same thing except BEFORE you add the clothes, let some water run in the bottom and add a little bit of bleach to the water. Also, if you're using pure whites, warm water is best. If there's a colorful t! hing on one of the clothes, use cold. When drying, make SURE that the clothes can be dried by machine. Put in a load, and check the lint filter and if it's got too much, clean it. Your clothes will dry better and there's less fire hazard >.>So anyways, that's the basics. Some things are only hand washable, so check the tags.Hope ya get to go! I had some friends who did, and it was awesome for them!...Show more

Wilfred Santacruce: The best person to ask on how to do laundry is your mother. You canpossibly impress her by taking an interest on doing chores around thehouse (laundry, vacuuming, cleaning bathroom, etc). The more that you help her around the house the more that she'll think that you'reprobably mature enough to take care of yourself. I learned how to dochores when I was your age and can now do these things without thinking about them. ...Show more

Tijuana Tatsak: I am not a parent, but I do my own laundry ;) At 13, your laundry should be fairly s! imple. You can separate your laundry into three piles: colors! , whites, and dark. These are your loads. If I have blue jeans, I put them in the dark pile usually. You probably won't have large loads, as you going for 19 days and probably doing laundry after a week or so, and if this is true, you need to set the washer to either a small or medium water setting. Then you need to turn the other nob to a setting (there are probably different settings by numbers...you probably don't want delecate or the pre-soak setting). Put in your laundry detergent and let the washer run it's course. After it is done, if your clothes go in the dryer, put them in there and set the dryer accordingly with a dryer sheet! Before you start the dryer check and empty the lint trap so your house doesn't start on fire! Good luck!...Show more

Jodie Capella: Hon 1st, sort the whites fr the coloured clothes, then towels, sheets, pillow slips etc. If you have any really grimy areas on the clothes (coloured or white), soak them in a colour safe stain! remover (not in the same bucket though). If poss, soak o/nite. start washing with towels/sheets/pillow slips/dish drying cloths (depending on size of w/machine), do them 1st while the others are soaking. You can always use a good stain remover on the other stuff if you haven't got time. An old fashioned cheap stain remover is 1/4 cup of cloudy ammonia, 1/4 cup dish liquid & 1/4 cup water mix in spray bottle & spray soiled areas. Then wash as per yr powder or liquid washing in machine it's your choice whether you use hot or cold water. Peg on line & dry. If you have clothes with perspiration stains treat with a water soluble eucalyptus oil (gets rid of stain & smell). To ensure all soap is out of clothes you can add 1/2 cup white vinegar to rinse cycle. Fab. softener actually wrecks the quality of your clothes & white vinegar does both soap removal & fab soft. (Cheap too). My entire family have saved heaps of cash using the old methods & they work. Good ! luck. I do hope you get your trip & your mom will be grateful for the! help if you have some one in the family diagnosied with altzheimers. email me if you need anymore help....Show more

Lue Podewils: Separate the dark clothes from the lights.. For example a white blouse versus blue jeans. Separate dedicates like under garments from jeans. Read all the directions on the boxes of soap and bleach. Some sweaters don't need to be dried in the dryer. Just stretch them out on a bed. Read the tags in side clothes and they will tell you what setting for the washing machine and drier. Good luck
