Study abroad, first time leaving home, good idea?

Ardell Luy: I was in the exact same situation a few months ago - I had never really been away from family for more than a few weeks at a time, and even then not more than a few hundred miles (driving distance). I decided after my first semester at college that I really didn't care for it, and that I wanted to go study abroad. And now, I find myself in South Korea, in a country whose language I don't speak (yet). Sure it was tough the first few weeks - and still is - but I have found it to be much easier than I expected to adapt to not just living alone - but to living alone in a completely foreign environment. The key is that if you do chose to participate in this program, you have to be willing to dedicate alot of time and patience towards finding a routine that works for you, and towards surviving on your own. It may seem daunting, but it adds a whole third dimension to life, and I wouldn't miss it for the world.~Good luck abroad, if you do go!...Show more

Javier Ho! lsonback: yes,it help you to make self dependent ( independent ).My suggestion is that , to be perfect everyone should face problem.
