What did your child know before going into preschool?

Luis Mellon: My son turned 4 in March and he started Pre-k this month. He knows his letters and the sounds they make. If you say a word, he can tell you what letter it starts with. He knows his shapes (not just square and circle - he knows shapes like octagon and pentagon) and his colors. He also knows a bit about which colors when mixed make other colors. He can count to about 20 but he has quite a bit of trouble with numbers. He'll usually mix up a few. He knows how to spell his name, but he has a lot of trouble copying the letters.
