Derrick Kloke: The major criteria when selecting any kind of theatre training is the level of industry recognition and support of the course and the quality of training the school provides. The course needs to have a strong vocational focus, as opposed to an academic one. Many university programs attract people who love theatre, but have passed no audition process to gain a place there. Consequently you will be studying theatre alongside many people who do not necessarily have acting ability and may well end up becoming teachers or something similar. The ideal course is one where you are sure that the people there have had to audition alongside many others to gain a place there. Then you can be sure that the people you are training alongside are committed to an acting career alone and have acting ability. Look at the employment outcomes of any school you are considering. Look at the industry experience of the tutors. Make sure that agents are interested in what they! are providing on the program.Best of luck with your studies....Show more
