Why do they put slavery n history books like thats african american history?

Lou Ravelo: Well, history is history, and facts are facts. There's no denying that slavery is a huge part of black history in the U.S.Trust me, its inclusion in history textbooks is NOT intended to glorify what white people did.

Sol Allphin: They do in world history books. In AMERICAN history they talk about black history in America.

Mohamed Szollosi: Slavery represented and important time in American History. Although it was horrible, it did bring some good. As a result of it and other factors, America broke out in war. Letting a brilliant president reach his potential and reunite the country and outlaw slavery through the Emancipation Proclamation. Paving the way for civil rights activists to fight for their rights. Also history isn't supposed to be censored, it's history. What happened in the past.

Gaylord Barragan: because it is history, black people arent the only ones that have been enslaved, indians, latinos, its just in there because its a import! an part of history, would Abraham Lincoln been so great? MLK, Rosa Parks?

Cherry Stampka: The reason they include black history (slavery is black history) into the textbooks is because its still history, especially american history. Its also a major part of african american heritage. If you want to learn about african history before slavery, find black history text book.

Wilbert Shellgren: it sounds like you have not been going to school because that is a part of African American History. Africans were brought to America and forced to be slaves. How is that not African American History?
