Is watchmen a book or comic?

Lenard Ginyard: (Revised 20090313.2033)'Watchmen' was originally serialized in 12 issues 1985-'86. It was collected into a 'graphic novel' (single book) relatively shortly after. It was immediately (during the serialization) acclaimed as the high water mark in superhero comics. The collected edition hasn't been out of print (to my knowledge)."Watchmen' is the only graphic novel on 'Time' magazine's 100 best novels list. 'Graphic novel' is sometimes misused (for lack of a better term) for any collected edition. This can work, but because comics are serialized, there is almost always some updating from last issue going on every issue, leading to plot redundancy in the collected work, ie, telling the (collected book) reader things which they already know. This doesn't occur in a true 'novel'. This problem is absent in 'Watchmen'.modify): Comics generally (& superhero comics specifically) sometimes have a beginning, & always a middle, but usually do not have an end, d! ue to marketing reasons (if you resolve the situation, then you run out of 'continued next month'. The marketing departments *job* is to keep the buyer interested in buying again next month.). Novels & literature usually are not continued from book to book; any novel is normally about the most important thing to happen in the lead character's life. 'Watchmen' the serialized comic & 'Watchmen' the graphic novel is a complete story; beginning, middle & end....Show more

Gregg Hagge: DC Comics released it as a 12-issue series. Meaning it came out as 12 separate issues before being collected as a trade where all the issues are in one book. It IS a Comic book. Just nothing like Superman or Captain America. Watchmen was historical when it came to what a comic book was and what they could be.

Joellen Zorrilla: It's a comic but it is so good is call more of a book. like the term Graphic Novel.

Dorethea Beaston: its a comic book first then they made it into a gra! phic novel which means it is a more graphic representation of! the original comic books with a longer story and plot which they now have made into the film so its the graphic novel which the film is based on..:)

Ramon Dahlheimer: Comic.

Karl Jantzen: Graphic Novel which means really long comic book.

Len Bormes: It's called a graphic novel. Which is pretty much a long comic book, but some comic book fans claim that graphic novels are more "sophisticated" then comic books.

Providencia Jalbert: I know it is not any Tool videos, but this one features either one man sitting on a couch or tied to a chair, with little pieces of string slipping up his chair and sliding underneath his skin. You could see them moving around and if I do remember correctly, they were all young and had brown hair, like Panic at the Disco. I would be eternally grateful if anyone could answer this.

Matt Gerdeman: It's a graphic novel.

Lawana Neemann: Both. Remember books have many sub categories, from 'Cat int he Hat' to 'Moby Di! ck' Watchmen is a comic, but it's is also a type of novelA comic can be a single frame, strip, novel or anything in between The term Graphic Novel is saying the the story is long and complex like other Novels. This term has become a bit over extended thoughGraphic novels are still comic books and you say whatever you prefer. But comic books now usually refer to books & anthologies consisting of many shorter stories or strips that aren't really connected like Archie or Calvin & HobbesOr those skinny monthly issues that will become part of graphic novel's volume...Show more

Asa Soho: Its a really depressing anime and i don't recommend watching it. It's terrible.

Sammy Hatzenbihler: It is referred to as a graphic novel.many will say that all it means is that it is a comic book in hardbound form; others argue that it has freed itself from the limitation imposed by the Comoc Code authority, which decides what can an cannot go into a comic and is more book than comic! . a vocal few feel that the apporach is more artistic and really tells ! a story, so it deserves its own category...Show more

Jana Sakasegawa: you do no longer could study it till now. besides the undeniable fact that it takes faraway from the journey by way of fact in case you have study the unconventional you will get extra of the comfortable comedy ( i became into guffawing yet my buddy neglected it). yet after seeing the action picture i could advise reading the unconventional, by way of fact issues will in basic terms make extra sense. desire you relish it.

Carmelina Enoch: Came out first as 12 comics -- all connected. Then it was issued as a Trade Paperback (or Thick Graphic Novel). With much acclaim. Now as a film.

Jose Bouliouris: DeviantART?

Stanton Degregorio: There is this drawing website that people draw anime and other oc with a tablet or just hand and it starts with an t or te but I'm not sure what it is please help

Sharri Scalley: Can't really call it a comic, since comics are usually considered "lighter".It is a graphic novel, meaning that it is told in a visual format, but is longer and the story is continuous and cohesive. However, it is considered one of the best Western NOVELS of the twentieth century.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watchmen...Show more
